Sander’s 2009 Christmas/Birthday List

Basically, there's some stuff on this list. And while stuff can be fun, I'm really looking forward to simply spending time with my family. This is the gift to which I look forward with the greatest anticipation and eagerness. I'd really be thrilled to hang out in the kitchen with everyone, making something tasty and chatting.

Visits from family, time spent cooking and eating- this is the big biggie.

Kitchen:

• Excalibur Food dehydrator
• Pressure Cooker
• Salad Spinner (OXO)
• Spice Grinder
• Pants (W 36… sigh/L32 or 30- it varies.  Helpful, aren’t I?).  I really need something that’s dressy- khakis or just non-denim nice looking pants.  Vague enough yet?
• Oven mitts
• Chef’s Choice 130 electric knife sharpener
• Thermoworks Super-Fast Thermapen (instant read thermometer)
• A good 12” non-stick frying pan
• Dishwasher parts- four of these (PT6328647)
• Refrigerator parts- One of these PS461313
• This Knife
• Pineapple corer/slicer (you know, the ones you see at the grocery store all the time)
• A couple of little digital timers- the ones I could clip to my apron or put in a pocket.
• Roasting rack for a medium sized roasting pan
• Silicone scrapers (for baking- I think they’re also called silicone spatulas.  I call them rubber lickers)
• Lavender essential oil (good for burns)
• Plow and Hearth Ceramic Compost Crock filters
• A butter bell
• A good maple cutting board (the bigger the better)

• On Food and Cooking
• The Year of Living Biblically
• The Dark Tower Concordance volumes 1 and 2
• The Oxford English Dictionary
• A good book on etymology (I already have Words and Their Romantic Origins)
• National Geographic’s new book on the Holy Land
• Books about early Christianity, books about spirituality, books about 20th century history

• Hawaiian shirts- size L.
• Nice looking shirts for work- long sleeved, button down, either solid colors or vertical stripes… If I want people to take me seriously I guess I should look like a professional. Size L.
• Cotton socks that match either black or brown shoes.

 Miscellaneous

• Plenty of anti-tip furniture straps
• Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin (iTunes or CD)
• Car stereo for 2006 Pontiac Vibe with connecting cable for Ipod
• Picture frames- 4X5, 3X5, etc.  We need to put up lots of Dylan pictures.
• Hori Hori knife

Did I mention that it would be great to have people over for dinner?  This is one of my absolute favorite gifts- the having over of family for dinner, especially if cooking is involved.  Come over, cook and eat with us!
