Sander’s 2010 Christmas/Birthday List
Basically, there's some stuff on this list. And while stuff can be fun, I'm really looking forward to simply spending time with my family. This is the gift to which I look forward with the greatest anticipation and eagerness. I'd really be thrilled to hang out in the kitchen with everyone, making something tasty and chatting.
Visits from family, time spent cooking and eating- this is the big biggie.
In the Kitchen:
Kuhn Rikon silicone Tornado (flat bottom) whisk
Candy and deep-fry thermometer
Microplane grater
Terry cloth robe size L/XL (what? you don’t work in the kitchen in your robe?)
Henckels Four Star Carving Fork
Thermoworks Super-Fast Thermapen (instant read thermometer) in orange
Small refrigerator for cheesemaking- one of those dorm room-sized ones- used and not in tip-top shape would be best, as cheese usually needs a good 45-60 (or higher) range for proper ripening.
Books:
Julia Child’s Art of French Cooking
The Passage by Justin Cronin (By the way, this book rocks and you should definitely read it)
Anything by Bart Ehrman other than God’s Problem (I already have that one)
On Food and Cooking
HarperCollins One-Volume Bible Commentary
History books, especially on early Christianity
Random
A router (tabletop or hand held)
Help with projects around the house
Cook with me
Gift cards- Itunes, Amazon, Cooks.com
Fun Boxers size L
Hawaiian shirts size L
Cigars
Did I mention that it would be great to have people over for dinner? This is one of my absolute favorite gifts- the having over of family for dinner, especially if cooking is involved. Come over, cook and eat with us!
